SAI President Renee Porzel released a letter today discussing the changes deemed necessary to the Rising Star competition. These changes will save the organization upwards of $80,000 a year. Essentially the new framework consists of separating the Rising Star competition from the International Convention held in fall and moving it to a regional even held during summer. Regions will be able to submit a proposal in hopes of co-sponsoring the competition during the months of June-July-August. Participants school schedules played a role in this decision. As of now, the plan is to hold the next event in 2014 with the competing quartets who qualified for Hawaii.
