What's New?

Jo Kraut

Too often lately I have had to report to you the loss of a beloved Sweet Adeline and, unfortunately, this morning I must do it again.

This from Facebook:

JoAnn Kraut passed this morning, January 26,2013, at 3:07 am. She was surrounded by her family, Kim, John, Karla, Kristin and Sue, and her best friend, Pat. There will be a celebration of her life in the next couple of weeks, more details to follow.

-Kim Kraut

Jo was a member of the Region #7 faculty and coached quartets and choruses around the world. She was also a former Approved Candidate Judge in the music category and had achieved the level of Master Director in the Director’s Certification Program.

When Jo Kraut became director of the Kansas City Chorus in 1980 the chorus began to grow in both size and skill winning their first regional gold with Kraut in 1989 and spending the next two decades achieving regional championships and numerous international medals.

The chorus consistently placed in the top ten at international including two third-place medals and a silver medal in 1993.

Jo first joined Sweet Adelines in 1975 and retired as Kansas City director in 2008.

The Kraut family shares that Jo has taken the final step in her journey. She passed in the early morning hours of Saturday, January 26.

We take comfort in our certainty that a chorus of angels has enthusiastically welcomed her generous spirit and endless talents. We know that her eyes are sparkling with delight as those angels discover the joy of singing a rightly tuned and balanced chord—and experience Jo’s enthusiastic reassurance that they have the talent and skills to do it again (and in tempo.)

To honor Jo’s endless influences on the lives of so very many, we will hold a Celebration of Life on a weekend in mid-February in lieu of a funeral service. We will share details as soon as arrangements are made.

We deeply appreciate the generosity of so many during these last few months. We are comforted by your compassion, your friendship, and your love, and we look forward to celebrating with you soon.

Condolences can be send to: PO Box 46917, Kansas City, MO 64188

My prayers and thoughts are with the Kraut family during this sad time. Jo and I had great fun designing and making costumes in the Mission Viejo Chorus many many years ago. I will miss her, but I KNOW FOR A FACT that she is singing her heart out in heaven now… God has taken home a wonderful loving and kind person..
