Bobbette Gantz Steps Down As ChannelAire Director

Bobbette Gantz is retiring as director of the ChannelAire Chorus.

Gantz has led the ChannelAire Chorus since 2000. Prior to taking the helm, she directed West Valley Chorus for 15 years and was Associate Director with Verdugo Hills throughout the 1970s. She has been a Certified Sound Judge since 1971.

After placing second five years in a row (’96-’00) in Region 11 (During which time the chorus averaged a score of 599) Gantz took the reins in 2000 and, over the next decade, won all five regional contests in which they competed while raising that average score to 648.

At International competition, ChannelAire placed 10th in 2004 and 9th in 2006.

From the ChannelAire Facebook page:

“Our director is retiring, and we want to find the perfect replacement! ChannelAire is a 40 voice Sweet Adelines International competing chorus with a strong community presence. We need a director with vocal music experience, or significant musical talent combined with strong leadership and people skills to propel us to the next level of musical excellence. We meet Tuesdays 7:00-10:00 PM in Camarillo CA. Please respond to Marilyn at memeyer4@yahoo.com”
