2014 Barbie Awards Recap

Thanks again to all of you who voted in the second annual Barbie Awards!

We had a total of 3,675 total votes from 10 countries.

Sweet Adeline of the Year:

The award for Sweet Adeline of the Year is given to the Sweet Adeline who, during the calendar year, has exemplified the ideal qualities of a Sweet Adelines member through their leadership, successes, progress, and dedication to the organization, their chorus, and/or the artform of barbershop music.

The Album of the Year award goes to the chorus or quartet album deemed most impressive, entertaining, and which helps to advance the art of barbershop music.

The Most Likely To Succeed Award goes to the individual or group whose success during the year indicates even greater successes to come.

The award for Choreography of the Year goes to the chorus who displayed the most entertaining, effective, and engaging visual performance on the contest stage.

Director of the Year:

The Director of the Year award goes to the chorus director who experienced the most success, improvement, and/or did the most to advance the art of barbershop and the SAI organization.

Video of the Year:

The Video of the Year award goes to the video which was the most impactful, creative, and/or fun and also NOT a contest performance.

Song of the Year:

The Song of the Year Award goes to the most memorable, fun, and/or impactful individual song performance during contest by either a chorus or a quartet.

Quartet Costume of the Year:

The award for Quartet Costume of the Year is given to the quartet whose costume worn in contest was the most memorable, creative, and/or effective in telling the story of their music selections.

Chorus Costume of the Year:

Quartet Contest Set of the Year:

The award for Moment of the Year goes to the event which was the most memorable, impactful, and/or entertaining. It should be the one event that will be recalled when thinking back about 2014.

  1. Would have been nice if Springfield Metro’s picture would have been featured along with the announcement of their winning the category of BEST costume.
